It's as if I opened a big time capsule. That was the impression I had when I first entered the building to revitalize it.

In the old days, this building was a house called "Honjin" where the lord of the Matsumoto clan would rest on his way to Edo (Tokyo) for his shifts. Over the past 100 years, the inside of the building has been filled with the remains from various historical periods. As we worked with the local people to carefully extract them, the essence and potential of this building became apparent.

The travels of important people may have had the effect of bringing, meeting, and blossoming the unique culture of each region. The aesthetic sense of this building still stimulates creativity today.
